Hey guys, first of all great App!
Working on my bachelors degree in physical therapy right now and in one of my classes a question came up about biarticular muscles, in this case the hamstrings, cause we were talking about all the little motions happening from sitting in a chair to standing.
Question was about the muscle lenght and how the hamstrings work cause of the knee and hip extension happening simultaneously. Knee ext in itself would lenghten and hip ext would shorten the hamstrings. Cause both happen at the same time, is the proximal part concentrically extending the hip while getting shortened and the distal part doing an eccentric and getting lenghtened so knee ext can occure?
And what about the overall lenght of the muscle if the angle change of both joints (lets say 30 degrees knee and hip ext) would be the same, would the overall muscle lenght of the hamstrings be the same?
Thanks in advance!
