Hey Guys – When selecting a dual cable stack for best line of force and profile options across all exercises – what is the best width between pulleys?

The wider the pulleys, they more you can play with the profiles for things like flys based on your distances from the stacks if I’m not mistaken.  I suppose this can be an advantage for some exercises and maybe a disadvantage for others.

I think the Life Fitness stacks in most gyms are something like 96″ apart pulley to pulley.

On the other end of the spectrum is 44″ apart on some rack solutions.

I’ve seen some that around 72″ apart and just about everything in-between.

I think Joe might have mentioned in Dave’s gym, the prime HLP at ~46″ apart was selected due to space constraints primarily and if he had the room for the big Life Fitness, he would have done that.

So – if you could choose any width between pulleys, what would it be?  the one I’m looking at is ~75″ between pulleys which seems like a happy medium but if you told me there is zero advantage of that over a 44″ wide system, then I could save some room.  Conversely if you said if you have the room, go 96″ over 75″, I can probably make it work.

    Thanks for advice!!
