Im in a bit of a dilemma. Ever since covid, my gym decided to tape off certain machines and one of them is my favorite calf raise. It is a regular hip loaded calf raise. I would try to substitute it with another hip loaded machine like a hack squat or a leg press but the angle of the platform makes it to where I can only get a solid contraction when the calf is shortened (since the angle is to allow for more range of motion). Therefore I switched to the precore icarian angled calf raise but im at the point where the weight is very heavy and f’s up my spine whenever I do them. I thought about dropping the weight and doing higher reps but I will get to the point where im still going to need to increase the weight. Any suggestions on what I should do?
