On off days would it be beneficial to run a little or would that defeat the purpose?

As long as it’s nothing too taxing and strenuous that defeats the whole purpose of rest days, ie. recovery then sure. I do cardio on my off days.

If you enjoy running, do it. I would never be opposed to that.

Personally, running can be a lot of impact and pretty tough long term from the constant pounding against ground force.

I absolutely am an advocate of cardiovascular work. It has tons of benefit for recovery, circulation, heart health to name a few.

If you enjoy it. If you’re doing it for health, and/or expend calories, I’d recommend something less impact. Bike, prowler, stepper, walking
