    Good day sir,

Sorry to bother you. I have been struggling with my deadlift for a long time now. Lots of pain during the deadlift. The pain is mostly off the ground. When I go light, after I pass my knees it’s super easy
    1) should I go really light and lift off the ground.
    2) should go heavier and lift off of the pin at the lowest level.

I have been struggling for a long time with this now. I hit 405 for a one rep max about 7 years ago and now struggle with 135 off the ground. Been to lots of “specialists” to figure out what’s wrong with no luck. I am close to deciding to give up on the movement. As mentioned from the pin it’s like the pain goes away also when I do RDLs it feels way better than standard deadlifts. What are your thoughts?

Unless there’s a specific reason you NEED to do deadlifts off the floor (eg competition) then why do them? You’ve essentially answered your own question. If RDL’s cause less or no pain then do those.

I guess it’s more cause I figured I “had” to do them. Thanks for the reply. Guess I’ll stay away from the pain zone.

Thanks guys. I for sure am not competing in deadlift especially at 135lb deadlift Hahahaha. I’ll modify them going forward thank you so much. You and people who are subscribed to this site seem to be all very helpful.
