Hello coaches,
One issue I have is back training. You hear upper back and Lats mentioned separately. Now I can see Lats not included in the upper back conversation at the iliac and lumbar point of insertion.
However, if the Teres Major is going to be called “upper back” then wouldn’t the thoracic insertion of the latissimus dorsi also be upper back?
If this is the case, would a wider grip (just outside shoulder length), on a lat Pulldown not build the Width, since it has a similar insertion point on the humerus?
Is it that the neutral grip shown typically as the Pulldown to target Lats simply hits all insertion points and gets a better “bang for the buck” than the pronated grip since the elbows travel away from torso.
My understanding may be completely screwed also. So please correct me if I’m wrong.
Thanks,
