    Hi coaches,

I apologize for this question but here goes:

Is there any major downside (or reason not to) to modifying the cannonball delt program’s working set volume?

Specifically, rather than the frequent 3×6-8 per exercise, I would do 1×6-8 hard set and a back off 1×8-12 but respecting the RIR as prescribed in the program?

Reasons: As a busy dad I can get in and out faster, I stay more focused and motivated, and I work harder. Been at this for 20 years so I “know thyself” well.

    Thanks!

Bryce – Thanks for the incredibly fast reply and for the insightful feedback. I’ve been a forum user in other places and am used to seeing replies like “Don’t change it or it isn’t a program anymore”. So it is refreshing to receive a reply like yours.

Joe – Thanks for your feedback and guidance as well. Appreciate the top notch support. And yes, I did watch the intro video and saw your recommendations about stretching out the final phase. Will give it a go and just start at week 5. Thanks!

One more question please: On the Delts day 3, exercise 1 calls for a 90 degree military press variant (barbell, DB, machine military press)

I have a Swissbar… is that an acceptable substitute (eg 60 degree bench) or is that too much front delt / upper chest bias?
