Hello, I’m a newly certified NASM CPT but dont agree with a lot of their principles like the overhead squat assessment saying that just because you may fall forward your lats are overactive. Got this cert to get my foot in the door. How do you suggest i conduct a fitness assessment/assessments? What information about ones body is crucial in knowing before starting a client on a program.

Short answer is, you don’t. Aside from making adjustments to exercise selection and ROM, you’re correct, and overhead squat, and most “assessments/screenings” are idiotic. I’ll answer this in a video though, to give more detail. I’ll have that up by the end of the week.
