    Hey Joe,

Hypothetical one for you that I’ve been thinking about whilst on a prep like diet in lockdown over here in the UK.

In a trained and ‘assisted’ individual (10+ years, knows how to train), do you think it is possible to achieve any growth in weak body parts whilst in a calorie deficit?  Particularly in body parts where connection has never really been there (calves) and no emphasis or focus has ever particularly been placed on said part to drastically improve them?

Asking as lockdown over here in the UK set to keep us out of the gym for at least another month yet. I’ve been motoring through with limited equipment; but considering now might be a good time to start giving calves some finally needed love (and they are easy enough to put some decent load through with home setup I have).

Quandary I’ve been in that I’m dieting down – maybe for a show later in the year if they go ahead 0r just to re-sensitise for growth phase when gyms do open.. is there any point / chance I’ll encourage any real growth here in a medium (10-15%) calorie deficit?

    Keen to hear your thoughts.

Thanks Joe – appreciate the quick and comprehensive answer.

You’ve given a man hope; and hope is sometimes all that’s needed 😉

    Have a good weekend buddy.
