Hello! I am a new lifetime member.

I recently purchased an older hack squat machine made by Polaris. It was in perfect shape, etc but the footplate is kinda poopy in joe’s technical terms. Small but really what bugs me the most is the angle adjustment doesn’t even let you get to the “standard” 90 degrees relative to the sled angle, let alone anything more acute. Seems angle is limited to > 100 degrees. Pretty much hurts my knees.

Long story short, I plan on modifying it (sorry equipment purists or nostalgics) to be bigger and better angle but would like to hear some good target angles- 80 degrees? 75 degrees?

Thanks for your response, it makes sense now about the ankle angle.

I think I found a good position for me last night- basically almost to the edge and higher up. I reverse banded it and also put on my spud knee sleeves which seemed to help quite a bit. Hamstrings were touching calves and it felt good. Still feeling this one out, taking it slow, haven’t gone real heavy yet.
