Hey Gents…love the metabolic / pump workouts at the end of my meat & potatoes session…but maybe I love it too much as I tend to always do something…how do you judge when to use metabolic and when no too? Or is it just a gut feel that day? Thanks…Rich

Is this something that is written in your training plan or just some random stuff like ‘Hey I just feel like doing a few sets bicep curls’?

If it’s something you are actually supposed to do that day I’d make there is also at least some kind of  rough progression scheme with that movement as well although.

But in any case, for whatever reason you do that, as long as it’s not hindering your recovery from sessions just keep doing it if you enjoy it that much. Remember, training should be fun as well.

The pump work is still … work. It still creates a physiological effect. I wouldn’t be careless and just throw it in based on an emotional, knee jerk thought. However, some safe added volume to end the workout is perfectly fine. I would keep it as consistent as possible for tracking purposes. Especially if you have some specific standards of results your heading toward.
