Whenever I increase weight on a lift my reps usually go down. I would assume this is expected and totally normal.
Provided I slowly work my way back up in reps, is this still progression?
Sometimes I get hung up on the overall volume/tonnage being lower than a previous session if I go up in weight on a lift.
