I’m not sure if there is general rule or again, if its individual from person to person, but I’m trying to get a greater understanding of ‘bulking and cutting’, to work towards my goals. I’ve never really paid too much attention to this side of training, so my knowledge is lacking.
The main query is around fat loss %. After an ill-informed and not well structured 1st bulk attempt, I’ve been working through recomposition and fat loss stages to get from 103kg to currently around 89kg. I’m currently at about 17% body fat and aimed to try and get to about 15% body fat, but the numbers have slowed down A LOT, even though I do steady state cardio after almost every session.
I don’t know if my body feels that because I’ve dropped so much already, that its reached the limits of the current cut, so I should go into a more structured surplus to build up muscle and then go back to a cut – hopefully starting in a better place so I can get towards the 15% or lower on the next cut?
Basically, by going through more Bulk/Cut cycles, will your body adapt better and allow you to potentially go lower each time (as long as your training and nutrition is on point)? Or does the number of times you bulk/cut have no effect, unlike for example a ‘Muscle Memory’ effect when you go back to lifting weights – where you can get back to where you were quicker?
