So I’m trying to understand something.
I saw a post by Paul Carter where he showed a study that emg activation of the long head of the triceps drops right off after we hit more than 90 degree shoulder flexion.

But does emg activity really equal muscle growth?

There’s a study (PMID 31356511) where they compared, among other exercises, the emg activity of the glutes when doing squat and hipthrusts. And the hipthrust had a higher emg activity.
But a different study (PMID 31975359) showed that the squat created more growth for the glutes than hipthrusts did.

Also, PMID 32149887 showed that a french press for example creates pretty good long head growth even though shoulder flexion is about 90 degrees or more for that exercise.

I hope there’s a nerd out there who can help me out with this, because it really interests me.

    Cheers!
