I’m just starting out focusing on hypertrophy lifting after spending about 6 months focused on only strength lifting with no consideration of muscle growth at all, and then almost a year long break. I can’t decide between the push pull legs program or the full body, my goal as of right now is to cut while growing muscle, strength isn’t much of a concern at all for me.
Another thing to add on to this, I looked through both programs and noticed they only had 3 workouts per week. Should I be going through each one a second time every week, or is it designed to only lift 3 days a week?
Ok, that makes sense. I think I’ll go with the full body program, but specifically for frequency is there any correlation between how many lifts per week and how that translates to muscle growth? For example maybe going 100% 3 days a week develops mainly strength while going maybe 80% for 5-6 days a week is more for muscle growth, or is that not true?
Also for the full body program I noticed that the workout is identical for every day of the week, and for every week of the program. If I were to add extra lifting days per week, would it help to change the exercises a bit, or even consider doing the half and half program instead to avoid hitting every muscle group pretty much everyday, and alternate between hitting upper and lower instead in a 6 day per week cycle?
