Really struggling to sleep more than 5 hours a night for the last 2/3 months… and its not getting easier due to my childs constant waking up! Will this be detrimental to my hard work and strict nutrition? How big of a factor REALLY is sleep? Thank you
Unfortunately, yes, it’s a bit of a big deal. It’s not the end of the world though (I’ve been through it 3 times ????????♂️). It doesn’t mean you can’t still make progress, or at least maintain, just realize if your recovery isn’t at its best, why would your progress be at its best?
The things you CAN do though. Lower your training volume. This could mean as little as one working set, or even dropping the metabolic/pump work for a while. And then, try and maximize any time you can to get extra sleep. It may not be possible, but wether that means getting to sleep earlier, or scheduling naps.
I also know lots of pros that would sleep in another room. Their training was their living, so it makes sense. But for me, it wasn’t a big deal to have a few month of maintenance, and as much as it’s exhausting, I look back on that time fondly with all 3 and am glad I stuck with it. Hang in there! ????????????
