Straight sets / Top set and back off sets

    Hey, what are your thoughts on working up to a heavy top set to failure in the 8-10 rep range and doing one or two back of sets with lower weight in the 12-15 range versus doing 2 or 3 straight sets with the same weight and same rep range?

    Also would you use the top set back off set method even on smaller muscle groups such as when doing lateral raises or dumbbell curls?
