If there is a day in the week where I know my recovery will be bad because I won’t get much if any sleep that night (ex. Thursday night I get 2 hours of sleep) should I train that day (ex. Thursday) or should I make it a rest day?

I’d be more worried about how that lack of sleep is gonna effect on my workout the next day. So if I were in that situation I’d probably train normally that day and take the next day off.

What if the lack of sleep doesn’t really effect my output the next day?

Personally, I would. Now keep in mind I have a very stubborn personality and I’m also often times pretty bad when it comes to listening to my own body.

Now all that aside would I recommend it? I probably wouldn’t, if it’s a recurring thing as it seems to in your current lifestyle. It might work out just fine a little while but at some point it is very likely going to catch up with you. But in any case it is really up to you. You know your own body the best and if you decide to do it, make sure to keep a close eye on your recovery and how you are feeling in general. So, don’t stick to a certain weekly workout schedule and don’t be afraid of taking an extra day off if you are feeling beat up. Hope this helps buddy!

I would likely take the day after off. BUT like you also mentioned, you’ll have to see where short and long term performance are most effected, and make adjustments based off that. Because, like you said, I could also make the strong argument to skip the day off as well
