ParticipantHi,
at first i wanna thank you all for your previos answers to my questions.
Now i have question about triceps exercise selection.
My current primary movement for building triceps is hammer strenght bended seated dips. I wanna know your opinion on this exercise. From what I learned here it could be very good exercise but I never saw any of you use it or recommend it.
I know you like swiss bar press with chains or bended dips, once i saw also Bryce doing with Flex triceps presses on smith machine. I tried all of them many times for some reason i dont like any of them. Swiss bar I feel most on slight negative bench but in all of these movement I dont like movement patch. I just feels i can not work very hard when i performing them.
I am very picky with triceps exercise selection because i noticed sooner or later when something doesnt fit perfectly I start to have some elbow problems.
Now everything feels ok and I am doing for triceps just these Hammer strengt bended seated dip and some light cable push downs. At the end of every sesion i do one set of BFR on triceps extension machine with elbows on pad . maybe i am wrong but i think it is helping me to keep my elbow or muscless around elbow without pain
Please let me know your opinion on hammer strenght bended seated dip, if you suggest it like meat and potatoes exercise or not. And please pick some other exercises which is good to add to my triceps training after these dips.
I am sending you 2 pictures about my set up on this exercise. I am holding handling closer to my chest, arms are slighlty tucked to body but i let elbows go where the need to go here, scapula tight and chest is pressing to the pad. When my arm is flexed at the begining of the exercise bends are producing no force, when arm is extended they are producing most force.
Thank you and have a nice day.

ParticipantIn my experience, alignment can be pretty tricky in the HS dip for most men. It’s not a bad movement, just a tough setup. For me, I would do free weight dips with bands or chains as a form of progressing before the machine.
Secondly, the HS machine tends to get heavier the further the elbow extends. Not an awesome loading pattern long term, but again, still able to be worked with if necessary.
Rule of thumb on exercise selection is always starting with what you connect week with, have zero pain in, and feel you are progressing in. Especially if it’s an exercise you want continuously in your rotation.

I don’t see any attached pics? But in my opinion, it can be a perfectly fine option if you have the hand placement (and more importantly arm path) correct. And don’t allow the weight to take you too “deep”
