    Hi Joe,

    One area I’ve always felt I lack the lean mass I desire is my chest. I bump up training (currently 20 working sets a week, focussing on effective reps) but then I feel like I’m neglecting other areas with the end result being that no areas are getting max volume.

    As I understand it the ability for the body to maintain muscle (assuming diet, sleep, lifestyle is all optimal) is 5 sets a week per body part.

    So, my question is there anything inherently detrimental in cutting back all body parts to 5 (intense) sets a week and then further boost the chest up to 30-40 sets a week for a 6-12 weeks program?

    I’m tall (6’6″) and long-limbed so I tend to rest 100-120 seconds a set to ensure good form and max effort so time also comes into the equation when trying to develop the body fully.
