I’d also be curious as to what your previous program was. I’ve experienced with myself and seen it in others where they switch they’re arm training from a high volume program where they’re storing a ton of glycogen in the arms to a low volume, progression focused program like this one and even though they may have added some tissue, the arm actually measures slightly smaller due to the loss of glycogen storage.

Thanks Joe, super comprehensive answer. I absolutely agree also on the volume thing. When people are looking at the studies on volume, they seem to forget that adding muscle size(as in possibly through glycogen and fluid retention) is definitely not the same thing as adding tissue. No knock on either of them at all, but you look at the difference in how Dorian trained and how Brandon Curry trains, and it shows up in the physique in my opinion. Dorian got that real muscle.

Even though at the end of the week, the arm volume on bropertrophy is still higher though?

Plus the iron cross probably puts more stress on the biceps than chins for most people tbh

    Makes sense. Thanks Bryce

One of my favorite parts of the app is that on these forums, when I ask a question and you both answer they’re often different answers and I mean that in the best way. You’re both such experienced coaches that have unique perspectives so I’m always hopeful that both you and Joe will give an answer, but no problem if not. Thanks Bryce, I’ve really benefited from checking out your Facebook videos on execution lately.

Thanks Bryce! Really adds up with a lot of what a lot of bodybuilders talk about regarding “trigger sessions” or “feeder workouts” but doing it in a way that doesn’t stress the joints as much.

Awesome. Yeah the individual component seems to be huge. Like you guys and someone like Christian Thibadeau will be quick to point out that according to limb length and individual differences, the same compound movement will hit different muscles in different people. Thanks Bryce.

Such a great point! On paper, someone like Jordan Peters or Scott Stevenson “disagrees significantly” with someone like Mike Israetel, but then when they are actually conversing they agree in everything.
