Great answer and gives hope to a fellow wide wing span guy, my arms are very long (and I’m 6’4”) so while I’ve always had good natural shape and definition it feels hard to make them bigger. Not helped currently by carrying a niggly injury in my left wrist and right elbow/bicep which stops me being able to train at the weight I could if it didn’t hurt!

Hi I originally had a diagnosis of UC when younger, managed to get symptom free and no drugs needed for 14 years then came back and then diagnosed as Crohn’s disease. I feel your pain with the steroids and trying to exercise, when everything feels like an effort it’s tough. Hang in there. No real advice on working out other than doing what feels ok. My main point is that you definitely challenge your doctor: if you haven’t been considered for one of the new biologic drugs you should push for it. After 2 weeks in hospital and months of misery we eventually got my treatment right. I’ve been on Infliximab for years now and it’s great: no symptoms or side effects

I’ve had the same on heavy leg presses and I think it’s a combination of the things mentioned: going all out for a PB but losing correct breathing, posture and too much tension

I’m the same vein, adding ‘like’ or similar would enable you to easily see who else would like an enhancement that’s requested

Any decent Pilates class can really help

Fantastic, personal answer from Joe as ever. To reinforce, My 14 year old son has noticeably curved forwards spine. MRI scan and specialist confirm no structural or injury issue, he’s just grown a lot (now 6’2” at 14) and let his posture deteriorate. Advice from specialist and physio the same as Joe’s: specific strength exercises for back won’t hurt but mindful posture maintenance is key. For my part, I’m 52 and 6’4” and have all sorts of poor posture habits. I have recently found that Pilates classes have helped me become aware of how to maintain better posture and given me physical cues to form better habits. That actually also helps when training: I’m holding better form, lifting more and getting less discomfort

I’d second this request, everything in my gym is KG and I seem to be locked to llbs, must have missed a step and unless I’m being thick, I can’t change it. Love the app and programs and advice

I’ve got these: https://startfitness.co.uk/products/inov8-f-lite-275-mens-training-shoes-black I find the strap helps tighten up and stop my feet moving in the shoe when pushing something heavy

Pragmatic answer from Joe. I use protein shakes to top up to protein goals as it’s not always easy in normal life to get all the protein I need but as Joe says, if I can get it through my normal diet I prefer it. @joe are you intolerant to other dairy products generally? If not maybe you just have an intolerance to
    Whey protein specifically

I would truly appreciate it if Joe can design us a home workout with dumbells or bodyweight only as not all of us have equipments at home and since almost everyone cannot access gyms for some now!

    Thanks so much!

+1 for that. Appreciate views on dynamic exercises like kettlebells to still induce Hypertrophy from light weights
